A few years ago, famed make-up artist Bobbi Brown sat in Deborah Lippmann's manicure chair at the Frederic Fekkai Salon. Although Brown opted for a basic manicure and chose a simple neutral shade, the session was an experience that neither would soon forget.
Impressed with Lippmann's clean and thorough style, Brown told ALLURE about her and news of her talent quickly spread throughout the industry. She has recorded a song on Broadway lyricist/director Martin Charnin's album "Incurably Romantic", was featured as vocalist/ producer/ arranger on Martha Stewart's "Home for the Holidays" Christmas special on CBS as well as performing on Donny Osmond's album "Christmas at Home", and has sung the national anthem at Madison Square Garden for New York Knicks games.
But what is this special touch that makes Lippmann so sought-after by celebrities? " I start out with a serious hand massage to help my clients relax" she says. "I prefer to take my time to give a slow, luxurious manicure". Lippmann's basic manicures generally take half an hour and last for about a week. "The most important thing," Lippmann adds, "is that I want my clients to feel great about themselves after I've finished".
